About EGADZ Action to Employment Program:

Action to Employment is a year-round snow removal, yard care, and maintenance program created in 2011. An EGADZ youth expressed a need for employment opportunities and a desire to give back to their community. This program gives at risk youth living in EGADZ programming an opportunity for employment, responsibility, skill acquisition, and financial stability. Action to Employment is also, and just as importantly, an integral program for elderly and disabled people in the community. Without having their snow removed from their properties, our clients are often not able to get out of their houses to attend important appointments, or have medication and home services delivered to them. Often, our clients do not have anyone in their lives who are able to help them out, they are left anxious and in a vulnerable state where they cannot access necessary services. Some of these elderly and disabled people, desperate to get snow cleared will then attempt to shovel their properties on their own, often causing injuries. Our clients are so grateful and relieved when the Action to Employment crew arrive to shovel their snow, and always comment how they do not know what they would do without them. Action to Employment relies on donations, and fundraisers to continue serving these clients and provide this crucial service which benefits our Saskatoon Community as a whole at no fee to them.
